Diane di Prima
Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1934. A rare female figure actively involved in the fifties New York Beat scene. Moved to San Francisco in 1968, where she wrote and took part in the activity of the Diggers and studied Zen, Buddhism, alchemy and raised her five children. She was named Poet Laureate of San Francisco in 2009. Some of her major works include Revolutionary Letters (1971, 2021), Loba (1978, 1998), Recollections of My Life as a Woman: New York years (2001).
1934年ニューヨーク州ブルックリンに生まれる。50年代からニューヨークのビート・シーンで精力的な活動をしていた稀有な女性詩人。68年にサンフランシスコに移住し、創作の傍ら、「ディガーズ」の活動に参加し、禅、仏教、錬金術を学び、五人の子どもを育てた。2009年にはサンフランシスコの桂冠詩人に選ばれた。代表作に Revolutionary Letters (1971, 2021), Loba (1978, 1998), Recollections of My Life as a Woman: New York years (2001) などがある。
